„ups& downs“ was born out of the desire to explore and expand the cello and its timbres with the help of tubes. the result is a kind of "etude" for two celli and tubes. The tension that the two different objects created by the combination of a totally musically alienated kind of tube (the blue cable conduit) with a very close to the musical context one (the bottle neck) appealed to me. That is why it was also obvious to me to combine this unusual form of cello playing with a very familiar form: the form of ups&downs is based on a fugue.
